I think the invisible load that mothers carry is something that many of us just “take on” and think “we are a failure if we can’t do it all”.
So many time management books are written to men, there are the “miracle morning” routines, and journaling, and working out, and all these things that the person getting school lunches, bags, and kids dressed simply cannot accomplish.
From experience with many clients, I think the bigger focus needs to be on “telling our time what to do” with flexibility and grace, taking into consideration the “season of life” that we are in.
As a business owner and mother of FIVE (4 of them under 8 years old), I can say, it is not easy, but it is SIMPLE. You just have to have a system.
Does it eliminate the mom guilt? No, but it is easier to say “no” to a child with a request when you can say instead, “not right now, but we can at XYZ time” and they trust that it will happen.
