There is Hope For A Better Oakland . I graduated from Laney College as a DSPS student becoming a Professional Chef / Restaurant Management Credentials . I remembered , When my special Instructor said Necol I don’t think this work is for you . Remembering falling against the wall due to diabetes high sugar numbers Asthma Chronic Pain and One Metal Rod from my hip to my knee , I never gave up , I said yes Chef it is I can do it , Being a Oaklander there’s memories of all the disappointments of our community not only witnessing the horror and disadvantages and etc. , growing up in West Oakland I was forced to adopt to normalcy and exceptions or be disliked . My father was in Texas as a cotton picker and mother from Oakland , West Wood Garden across from the West Oakland bart Station , the Bart station lives on but not my mom which who died when I was 5yrs old so hey . I cried n played everyday , I can still see the times I would run to church alone because I said I know something had to be good . Missionary Baptist Church on 10th in Willow I think . Nevertheless I was a victim as I can remember to now . Being from Oakland I can say I can write a book . I’ve the opportunity to speak at the City Hall Of Oakland as a young girl . Jubilee West was my home but known as a community center . Like I stated I can write a book . One last mention about Jubilee West I will never forget we had a tournament against the McDonald Double Dutch Team . I was praised for my speed but we won but didn’t win the entire tournament . That feeling still remains in my heart as long as we win something we won , so Change For Oakland is a dream I’m dying to experience and witness , Thank you got the opportunity to share a little of my life as a Oaklander my God Continue to Bless Us All the good n the bad even the less unfortunate ones as myself . I never received any grants beside tuition as a student I was scared of loans because they say students don’t make it in debt so never did any SBA’s .
