TribesAndHistory is an African storytelling platform where African history, folklore, and tales are brought to light through diverse media forms.

We are solving the problem of lack of diversity in the media with a mix of education. We bring untold African stories to the forefront, celebrating African history, folklore, mythology, and fiction through media formats, including pictorial books, quizzes, comics, and animation. At TribesAndHistory, we tell these stories in engaging ways that combine education with entertainment. With the limited media representation of African stories, we strive to change the narrative and ensure these stories are heard.

Stories such as King Jaja of Opobo, Queen Amina of Zazzau, the great Benin Empire, and several others deserve global recognition. The story of the Dahomey Amazons (also known as the Agojie), which inspired the movie “The Woman King” by Viola Davis, showcases the depth of African heritage. Similarly, the powerful narrative of Igbo Landing, where the Igbo people of modern-day Nigeria chose to commit suicide rather than face enslavement, is one that must be shared.
