Who is T.E.A.M. Theatre?
YOU are T.E.A.M. Theatre! T.E.A.M. Theatre is anyone with a passion for exploration, creativity, storytelling, and collaboration. T.E.A.M. Theatre is a company of emerging artists from ages 8 & Up, who are interested in learning all aspects of what it takes to bring a story from the page to the stage.
T.E.A.M. Theatre was founded in 2015 by Rachel Robinson and Salim Razawi, out of a shared desire to foster a community of well-rounded, young theatre artists.
What is T.E.A.M. Theatre?
T.E.A.M. Theatre is a movement to create the future generation of smart and skillful storytellers. The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines the word TEAM simply as “a group of people who work together.” That is at the core of T.E.A.M. Theatre. At T.E.A.M. Theatre, we approach the performing arts as a team sport. Every player is essential to the success of the production: from actors and stage managers, to costume designers and spotlight operators. We believe it is vital that aspiring artists be educated in all elements that bring a show to life. T.E.A.M. Theatre is the East Bay’s premier training ground for the theatre arts, where students receive training in voice, acting, dance, stage management, design, and more. Whether you are just beginning to explore the world of theatre, or if you have already performed in dozens of shows, T.E.A.M. Theatre is the community for you.
Why T.E.A.M. Theatre?
In a world of increasing technological advancement, it is more important than ever to create a space for art makers and appreciators. T.E.A.M. Theatre provides one of the few remaining platforms for children to develop collaborative and interpersonal skills. According to a Washington Post article by arts and leadership educator, Lisa Phillips, the top 10 skills children learn from the arts are:
Creativity
Confidence
Problem Solving
Perseverance
Focus
Non-verbal Communication
Receiving Constructive Feedback
Collaboration
Dedication
Accountability
Now is the time for T.E.A.M. Theatre. We know that you have options when it comes to your child’s arts education. T.E.A.M. Theatre is unique in its commitment to training and teamwork. We are not a musical theatre factory where your tuition dollars go toward putting your child into a stock costume and churning out a new production every 10 weeks. Our students gain practical knowledge of the skills it takes to make a theatre company work. They have a hand in all elements of our productions, providing them with a sense of ownership of their work, a supportive community, and a practical professional tool box.
