Founder's Story

I’ve been building community for as long as I can remember. Through programming for BBYO, Theta Phi Alpha and UESGIRLS, I realized there was a need not just for events, but for deeper community. That realization became ShabbUES. Through ShabbUES, I’ve combined years of event planning, grassroots organizing, relationship-building, and Jewish community experience to create low-barrier opportunities for young adults to connect. From intimate Shabbat dinners hosted in neighbors’ homes to larger social events, my goal is always the same: create an environment where people can walk in alone and leave feeling like they found their people.

ShabbUES creates low-barrier entry points into Jewish community for NYC young adults through intimate Shabbat experiences, neighborhood based events, active WhatsApp group chats, and intentional activities designed to foster meaningful connections. 

There is no shortage of places for young Jewish adults to go in New York City. What is often missing, however, are spaces where you can walk in without knowing anyone, actually talk to the person next to you, make a new friend, and leave feeling genuinely more connected to your community.

ShabbUES is a grassroots, community-driven network designed to make Jewish life feel accessible, personal, and welcoming – particularly for young adults who may not have a natural entry point into traditional Jewish institutions. Rather than asking people to find their way into an existing community, we bring community directly to them from the comfort of neighbor’s homes, local venues, social spaces, and shared experiences across Manhattan.

Our programming combines the intimacy of small-group community building with the energy and accessibility of larger social events. Through Shabbat dinners, women’s programming, social club events, singles programming, volunteer opportunities, and community service activations, ShabbUES creates opportunities for young adults to build friendships, deepen Jewish connection, and develop a sense of belonging.

The impact of this model extends beyond any individual event. Our intimate Shabbat gatherings have already helped foster friendships, relationships, and connections that continue well beyond the dinner table. We are building a network in which participants don’t simply attend an event, they become part of a community.
