Business Description

The owner Ruthenia George is the guardian of three of her 23 grandchildren. She started Ruthenia’s Place to teach her grandchildren and herself, that there is life after trauma. And dreams can become a reality if you have faith and apply yourself. As Ruthenia’s Place started, each of the grandchildren would watch as Ruthenia began to design her handcrafted art and eventually the three children began to ask if they could help. The two girls, Samiah & Savannah, began creating art with Ruthenia. They love the behind the scenes work of creativity. Their brother, Dareion found his love for talking to people. When they do outdoor events, Dareion strikes up conversations with the patrons. As he engages with them, he takes the time, not only to describe the business, but he also explains each item and what it represents.

Ruthenia’s Place creates unique hand-beaded items such as therapeutic sensory cords. The sensory cords are made with beads of a different size, shape, texture, and color. And they come with a fun focal item. They also bead ink pens, keychains, wristlets, and more. If it can be beaded, they will do it. They design a therapeutic Feelings board made out of felt material for those with autism who are non-verbal. The feelings board is a way for the individual to express how they are feeling at any given time using pictures. They even designed a bag called the “Comfort Buddy” and displays words of affirmation. The bag comes with a few other sensory items for traveling and everyday use.

Ruthenia’s Place also specializes in Resin Art, Canvas art, and Hair Accessories. Their desire is to create one-of-a-kind masterpieces that cannot be forgotten.
