Business Description
What is Recovery & Consulting Through A Different Lens, LLC is all about?
Susanah DeSilva is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and Susanah established Recovery & Counseling Through A Different Lens psychotherapy practice in 2020 with three main goals. The practice provides counseling to individuals, couples, addiction treatment, clinical supervision, and Program Consultation. The practice aims to provide a space for individuals to explore and reflect on the life they desire, with the support of a therapist who can offer guidance and accompany them on their journey with ethics and integrity. Consultation and program management is offered to Behavioral Health programs, helping them create programs that positively impact physical well-being and support the growth and development of therapists. Clinical supervision offered to individuals seeking licensure, internships, or reciprocity, ensuring they can work in a practice that upholds ethical standards and integrity.
Meet the Business Owner
Confucius said, “Cultivate the root; the leaves and branches will take care of themselves.” I view therapy as focusing on the core issues, those underlying problems. By doing so, the solutions become apparent. I believe that by properly addressing the various aspects of an individual, they have a greater chance of aligning themselves with their potential for success in life, even after experiencing immense trauma. My passion is to accompany you on this journey as you strive to create and live your best life.
What is the approach to therapy?
I take an eclectic approach to therapy, blending multiple orientations (Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavior, DBT, Solution-Focused, Somatic Techniques, Client-Centered) depending on what is needed for the client, under the umbrella of a trauma-informed practice. Substance use work is addressed with a focus on relapse prevention. Clinical Supervision is facilitated under the umbrella of ethics and integrity as we examine what is therapy, self-examination, and becoming a therapist.
What can clients expect to take away from therapy sessions?
I think that clients can expect to take away from the sessions the feeling of being understood, supported, listened to, it is ok to be vulnerable, express feelings, and begin to develop an understanding of the underlying issues of their problems and coping strategies to deal with them. They will also gain an understanding of their mental health diagnosis and how it impacts their lives.
