Founder's Story

I started Raton Supercross because I saw an important community event at risk of disappearing when the volunteer committee that had organized it stepped down. Rather than let the event end, I chose to take on the responsibility of continuing it as a sole proprietor because I believe our community deserves family-friendly events that bring people together and create positive experiences for all ages.
What motivates me as a business owner is the opportunity to make a lasting impact on Raton and Colfax County. Beyond providing an exciting weekend of racing, my goal is to attract visitors from across New Mexico, Colorado, and neighboring states, increasing tourism and supporting local hotels, restaurants, and businesses. I am passionate about creating an event that strengthens our local economy, showcases our community, and gives residents something they can be proud of while building a tradition that continues to grow each year.

Raton Supercross is an annual amateur supercross and motocross event held in Raton, New Mexico, bringing together riders, race teams, families, and motorsports enthusiasts from across New Mexico, Colorado, and the surrounding region. Founded to preserve a valued community tradition, our mission is to provide a professionally organized, family-friendly racing event while promoting tourism and supporting local businesses throughout Colfax County. From exciting on-track competition to food vendors, merchandise, and community involvement, Raton Supercross offers an experience that appeals to spectators and racers of all ages.

More than just a race, Raton Supercross is committed to creating a positive economic and community impact. The event encourages overnight travel, supports local hotels, restaurants, and retailers, and showcases everything Raton has to offer to first-time visitors and returning competitors alike. Our track has been repeatedly voted “Best Track” in the Rocky Mountain Motocross Association (RMRA) circuit, reflecting our commitment to delivering an outstanding racing experience. As we continue to grow, we are expanding partnerships with sponsors, vendors, and community organizations to strengthen the event each year while building Raton Supercross into one of the premier amateur supercross destinations in the Southwest.
