Founder's Story

My name is Janeca Werts, I am the founder of Pouches of Love and my journey began in 1997 falling ill to crohn's disease. Living with this disease was an arduous journey, but in 2017 the disease nearly took my life sending me into years of life saving surgeries leaving me with a permanent ileostomy. Falling into a dark spiral believing my life as I knew it was over, I woke up one day and decided there could be others like me that needed help. With that thought and the struggles I was experiencing Pouches of Love was born September 12,2019.

Business Description

Pouches of Love is a nonprofit organization that aims to alleviate the turmoil, depression, and financial struggles that come with a life transitioning to the ostomy life. As an ostomate myself I am fully aware of what can happen in the home during the transition and after. For me without my mom I am not sure if my two children and I would have made it.

The cost of monthly ostomy supplies can wreak havoc on the family finances with cost ranging between 500.00- 1000.00 a month depending on what all is used. Pouches of Love is here to remove that burden by supplying the necessary supplies for daily life at no cost to our members.  We provide the supplies, education, support, and therapy for those struggling all at no cost.

With the United States performing 150000 new ostomy surgeries a year now the need for our organization is growing.  The changes in insurance is not including ostomy supplies for patients so a great amount of  patients are left in the cold. We are working daily to bring them in and shower them with the love,supplies, and support they need.
