Founder's Story
I started caring for dogs in 2016 as a teenage mother looking for flexible income to raise my son. What I found was not just a side hustle but a calling for something that deeply mattered and felt like a lost part of society. Caring for someone's dog requires the same things that build healthy communities: trust, consistency, showing up when it matters, and paying attention to the details others overlook. I paused during the pandemic, married, and grew my family. As I worked full time and volunteered with children in the community, I felt a shift to take everything I knew, everything I was, and everything I had given, and renovate something of my own to help make the change our city has been desperate for. I launched my LLC, became a certified life coach, and stepped into a bigger vision: not just to provide pet care, but to build a community-rooted business where trusted dog care partners with youth development and workforce readiness for Kansas City's next generation, ages 6-25.
Business Description
Nurtured Paws LLC is a relationship-based dog care business serving busy Kansas City families through personalized dog walking, drop-in visits, and overnight boarding. We do not operate like a facility. Every dog is genuinely known, their routine, their personality, the small things that help them feel safe. Every owner receives consistent communication and real peace of mind. Built almost entirely through referrals and word of mouth since 2016, we serve families and busy owners who need flexible, affordable, and personal dog care they can actually trust. Every client has worked directly with the founder. No impersonal transactions, no manufactured enthusiasm. Just real, hands-on care with mother-like nurturing values embedded in every part of the experience. The vision behind Nurtured Paws extends beyond pet care. This business is the foundation of a community-rooted social enterprise designed to invest its resources into youth development, financial literacy, community service, entrepreneurship, and workforce readiness for youth ages 6 – 25, starting in Kansas City. Pet care is the starting point. Community development and personal growth is the destination.
