Business Description

Neptune in June, formerly known as Ice Cream Social, is an artist-run curatorial and community project based in Port Chester, NY. Our two-fold mission focuses on supporting emerging artists seeking connection to the larger contemporary art dialogue and bringing meaningful conversations to the Port Chester community that are in tune with local culture. We curate exhibitions locally and across the U.S., in addition to offering workshops, performances, screenings, panels, and other multi-disciplinary public events in partnership with fellow art spaces and community service groups.

Neptune in June presents experimental contemporary art by emerging and established artists, with a focus on installation and other mediums that are typically more challenging for artists to exhibit. The experience of this work and its accompanying public programs is curated with accessibility in mind for audiences who don’t regularly have access to or exposure to contemporary art. In keeping with its larger mission of reducing its impact on gentrification, we foster intentionality and curatorial sensitivity in representing other cultures’ narratives.

To strengthen our capacity for supporting local artists, exhibitions are organized in cities across the U.S. that introduce artists to new audiences. To remain rooted in and dedicated to the local community’s long-term growth, Neptune in June offers in-class, after-school, and professional development workshops that are eligible for BOCES aid as an Arts in Education vendor. These K-12 visiting artist programs incorporate art history, introduce a wide range of artistic mediums, develop professional skills for high schoolers, and meet NYS Arts Education Standards.
