Business Description
Mt. Peak Pod School is a K-2 mini private school located in Tiffin, OH. Currently, we have a maxed class size of 12 students, but we may increase this to 15 students later on. Our daily schedule Monday-Thursday is focused around centers. Students will have five rotations for reading centers. For one of those centers students will meet with the teacher for skills instruction (phonics class). For two to three of the centers students will work on Daily Cafe. Daily Cafe is a reading program designed by “The Sisters”. The program has students working on authentic tasks such as reading a book the students choose and writing about topics that are meaningful to the student. The other one or two centers will either be spent working on Daily Cafe or meeting with the teacher for intervention. Math Centers has six rotations a day. Students will meet with the teacher two times a day. Students will pick between three computer centers and four non-computer centers. These centers include working on math games, math facts, counting club (number writing), and working on an adaptive math program. This allows students to collaborate with their peers and to develop their own ideas about math. The science and social studies centers has three centers each, but students only do one center a day, Monday-Wednesday. Students meet with the teacher for one of the centers. Students will have typing practice and watching a science video on the computer. Students will have building centers and a puzzles/games center. This allows for students to collaborate with their peers and develop critical thinking skills.
Twice on Thursday and once on Friday students work on Kindness in the Classroom centers. Students will meet with the teacher one time, another time students do online games, and the last time students will do free art. Our Friday’s focus on elective classes such as music, gym, art, and other classes. Some other special activities the school hopes to do is community shares and quarter show cases. Community shares is when a family member or community member comes to the school and shares something. This may be a book, craft, culture, or message. Quarter showcases is a time for students to show off what they have done for the quarter.
We are open for enrollment starting in March 2025!
