Business Description

Welcome! My name is Michelle, I operate a poultry farm program specializing in the rare and heritage breeds of chickens, ducks, turkeys, guinea hens, geese and quail. My poultry farm and hatchery is located just south of Louisville in Ekron, Kentucky.

Most people do not know that there are many breeds of farm animals that are going extinct. Yes, farm animals! The breeds that your grandparents may have raised are in danger of never being seen again. Our farm animals have been replaced with quick growing hybrids that have been modified genetically to produce meat or eggs sooner. Many of you may have noticed your steak, pork roast or chicken breast doesn’t look or taste the same as it did a few years ago.

I volunteer at a farm sanctuary and after learning about the plight of so many farm animals, I decided to start my own business trying to help the current animals on the threatened and endangered lists. In 2022 I sourced quality breeder poultry of several threatened breeds and have made it my mission to offer the feathered heritage birds to like-minded people around our great country. By offering fertile hatching eggs, newly hatched chicks and breeder quality adult birds I have been able to get several threatened breeds of poultry dispersed to backyard poultry flocks.

Because I raise these rare and heritage poultry breeds naturally, I also sell the herbs and herbal mixes I use that assist our feathered friend’s health. Consultations are available to assist others in the appropriate natural and herbal way to care for chickens, ducks, turkeys, quail and more.
