Founder's Story

MeMe, JJ & Friends began with a rescue dog named JJ and a promise to give animals a voice through storytelling.
After adopting JJ from a local shelter, I discovered that many rescue pets have stories that often go untold. Inspired by my mother's beloved dog, MeMe, and other real pets who became part of our family, I created a children's book series that combines literacy, social-emotional learning, and animal welfare.
Today, MeMe, JJ & Friends features books, activities, educational resources, and shelter pet advocacy projects designed to help children explore empathy, kindness, emotional awareness, and friendship. Each character is based on a real pet, and many of the stories are inspired by real-life experiences.
My mission is simple: help children learn about emotions while giving shelter and rescue pets a voice. Through stories, illustrations, and educational activities, I hope to create meaningful conversations that connect children, families, educators, and animal lovers.

Business Description

MeMe, JJ & Friends™ is a children’s literacy and social-emotional learning brand created by author Serena N. Brown. Inspired by real rescue pets, the brand combines children’s books, educational activities, storytelling, and humane education to help children explore empathy, kindness, emotional awareness, friendship, and responsible pet care. Each character in the series—including JJ, MeMe, Tuffie, Tank, Lexus, and Uno—is based on a real pet whose experiences help children connect with important life lessons through engaging stories and illustrations.

Our growing collection includes children’s picture books, activity books, literacy resources, social-emotional learning materials, and the Adopt a Heart initiative, which helps give shelter pets a voice through storytelling and educational content. Teachers, parents, homeschool families, libraries, shelters, and community organizations use our resources to encourage reading, emotional development, critical thinking, and compassionate conversations.
