Mawu Greetings draws its name from Mawu, the African goddess of creation in the mythology of the Fon people of Benin. Mawu is often depicted as a dual-gendered deity, embodying both feminine and masculine aspects, and is associated with the moon, night, fertility, wisdom, and creation.

By choosing this name, Mawu Greetings aligns itself with the powerful symbolism of creation, diversity, and wisdom. Just as Mawu is believed to have created the world and all living things, Mawu Greetings aims to create a new world of inclusive and diverse representation in the greeting card and stationery industry.

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” These words from the great poet and writer Maya Angelou are the driving sentiment behind Mawu Greetings, a culturally inclusive line of premium greeting cards, stationery and gifts. We want to help our customers strengthen connections with their diverse community member base by sending messages of joy, celebration, sorrow and gratitude that create lasting memories. We aim to build lasting memories that yield exponential returns for everyone we touch.

We collaborate with artists to produce seasonal designs that put a spin on classic holiday celebrations and other occasions, while providing an extended product line that honors previously unrecognized occasions. The items are collectible and buyers and receivers will get to know the artists behind the designs on the website and via virtual and in-person events. Mawu Greetings is a subsidiary of Tenth Muse Enterprises, LLC, a business whose founder and CEO has built relationships with diverse artists, writers, and arts organizations and businesses for more than twenty years.
