My online shop is called myislandthings.etsy.com. I sell items made from Montserrat’s national madras fabric in the shop. Many people require the fabric for various reasons, so I fill that void for the United Kingdom and the USA. The items made are very varied, from items for the home to clothing and bags. The items are described and sold as souvenir items as I describe them as items for gifting to other Montserratians.

The items are all handmade by me, and most are well-known as they have been available for many years. Persons enjoy wearing items made from the fabric, which is worn on cultural occasions such as St. Patrick’s Day, Heroes Day and any other time when persons need to express their national culture.  Many schools have different days when they celebrate the island’s culture; on those days, the children and teachers would be asked to wear the national outfit or parts of it.

Wearing the national dress is a big thing for any Montserratian, and so being able to access the fabric or any piece of clothing which they want to wear is a big deal for them.

Also in my shop is a Montserrat Cookbook with traditional and new recipes, a cookbook written by me as a lasting legacy for the youth of Montserrat. Shopping on my shop on Etsy would be a great thing for any person with Montserrat connections or anyone wanting to gift an real authentic gift from the island.
