Business Description

The Jada Bascom Foundation is a nonprofit organization that enrolls potential stem cell and bone marrow donors with registries around the world to match donors with patients in need of a transplant.

Jeana Moore founded the Jada Bascom Foundation inspired by her granddaughter, Jada, who was born with Acute Meyloid Leukemia.  The doctors told Jada’s parents that she would need a bone marrow transplant to survive after chemo-therapy treatments failed. Jada found her perfect match, after the registry searched 11 million people, in a young man from Germany, Torsten Huber. Torsten gave his cells to a stranger and saved Jada’s life.

Past projects include the Steps To-Marrow walks for life, by our founder, Jeana Moore: 1) Steps To-Marrow 1 a 4,434 mile walk across America.  2) Steps To-Marrow 2 a 1,170 mile walk across Europe to thank DKMS, the German Donor Center, for finding Jada’s match. 3) Steps To-Marrow 3 across Arizona to raise awareness for the need for diversity on the U.S. national registry, NMDP. 4) Steps To-Marrow 4 a walk across Washington state the thank Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital in Spokane, WA and Seattle Children’s Hospital for saving our Jada’s life. The Jada Bascom Foundation has enrolled over 20,000 potential donors with registries around the world.  The Jada Bascom Foundation is now beginning a project to enroll potential stem cell donors, using existing social media platforms, with registries around the world.

An update on Jada: Jada is now 17 and a Senior in high school.  She is a girl on the go! Her fight for her life has given her compassion for the suffering of others. She is artistic, athletic and intelligent.  She is a light in the life of so many. We are indebted to a chain of thousands of folks who contributed to her saving Jada’s life, especially Dr. Judy Felgenhauer from Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital and her dear donor Torsten Huber from Neuhausen Ob Eck, Germany.
