Founder's Story
I founded Jackie Murray Productions after deciding at age 40 to stop postponing my creative purpose. Growing up without encouragement to pursue my dreams, I realized no one was standing in my way. I chose acting and singing, guided by the belief, “Not pursuing your dreams is like being a bird who is afraid of heights.”
As my career grew, I saw a need for authentic African American stories, culturally meaningful entertainment, and opportunities for overlooked artists. Rather than wait for someone else to create them, I built Jackie Murray Productions.
The company has grown from individual performances into award-winning theatre, educational programs, Memphis history tours, music, and digital content. The Juneteenth Story played to sold-out audiences, while Harriet Tubman: One Woman’s Journey educates and inspires audiences of all ages. Aspire is our next chapter. Through every project, we preserve history and spread love, peace, and understanding through the arts.
