Founder's Story

When I left education, I had a decision to make. I could take everything I had learned and simply close that chapter, or I could build something new with it. I chose new. EmpowerED Bright Roots really started long before it had a name. For nearly 30 years, I worked in education, and I kept seeing the same thing: parents loved their children fiercely, but many felt completely lost when it came to IEPs, special education, and all the acronyms that somehow everyone expects you to understand. I became the person who would slow things down and say, “Okay, let’s talk about what this actually means.”

Business Description

EmpowerED Bright Roots provides personalized educational support for students and practical guidance for parents and guardians who want to better understand and navigate their child’s education. With nearly 30 years of experience in education and more than 2,000 IEPs facilitated, developed, reviewed, or supported, I help families make sense of special education without all the confusing educator-speak. Services include IEP consulting, IEP review and meeting preparation, parent educational advocacy, educational planning, and one-on-one strategy sessions. My goal is simple: parents should understand what is happening with their child, know what questions to ask, and feel confident using their voice at the table.

EmpowerED Bright Roots also provides personalized online tutoring and academic support for students who need more than a one-size-fits-all approach. Services include K–6 academic support in reading/ELA, math, science, and social studies; literacy and foundational reading intervention; Orton-Gillingham-based reading support; student success coaching; and individualized instruction in one-on-one or small-group settings of five students or fewer. Support is especially helpful for students with disabilities, learning differences, skill gaps, or students who simply need instruction delivered differently before everything starts to click.

I also support families looking for flexible online learning options, including students who may have difficulty attending a traditional school environment because of medical needs, anxiety, behavior, or other circumstances. Services can include structured online learning support, progress monitoring, organization, parent communication, and individualized educational planning.

Beyond individual services, EmpowerED Bright Roots is growing into a resource hub for families and educators. I provide and develop parent workshops, IEP education, digital resources and toolkits, educational consultations, and professional development and training designed to make complicated educational information practical and understandable.

At the heart of everything I do is one belief: parents know their children, and they deserve to understand the educational process surrounding them. Whether a family needs help preparing for an IEP meeting or a child needs help finally mastering a skill that has been frustrating them for months, EmpowerED Bright Roots provides experience, patience, practical guidance, and someone genuinely in their corner.
