Back Story

I’m Bria King, I’m 28 and the face behind Celestial Candle Works, where we’re all about creating more than just candles – we’re crafting experiences. Let me take you on a journey through the story behind my business, which is deeply intertwined with my journey of growth and healing.

Back in 2020, I started a business called BES Creations with my mother, Erica, and cousin, Sherita. The business was selling candles (Bria), skincare (Erica), and crafts such as clothes, macrame, and jewelry (Sherita). This is when I first really started finding my way around my passion for making candles. Over time, I became better at my craft, but the vision I had for the business wasn’t what was manifesting before my eyes. Slowly over time, we all began to fall off business-wise, but my passion for making candles remained and I continued to work toward my vision. However, during this same time, I found myself in a tough spot, struggling with a whole bunch of challenges that left me feeling completely broken – mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I was struggling financially, dealing with anxiety attacks, being overweight, in bad relationships, and overall, just not where I imagined I would be in life at this point. I was just confused and broken about how I ended up here. It was a rocky time, with every step forward feeling like I was hitting a wall.

Searching for some peace and healing, I started looking into the world of holistic wellness. This led me to pursue a master’s degree in Aromatherapy, a decision that not only changed my career path but also kickstarted my healing and growth. Alongside my studies, I started digging into some more serious self-discovery work, including regular therapy and hypnotherapy sessions. Those experiences opened my eyes and helped me see the vision for my life and Celestial Candle Works. It got me through the dark times and helped me better manage my bad days.

Just like aromatherapy, hypnotherapy, and psychotherapy helped me, I want Celestial Candle Works to be a place where people can find not just beautifully crafted candles, but also a safe space to heal, connect, and grow. I feel like my business can be a true reflection of resilience – it’s a symbol of my ongoing journey toward wholeness. Despite all the bumps in the road, I’m staying true to my mission. Celestial Candle Works isn’t just a business to me; it’s a passion project, a shining light guiding me toward a brighter future.

As time goes on, I’m feeling hopeful and determined. I graduated from my master’s program, rebranded BES Creations to Celestial Candle Works, and now I’m juggling two part-time jobs as an administrative assistant in construction management and a receptionist for a dispensary, along with two side jobs as a notary public and insurance agent, all because I am committed to making my dreams a reality.

At the heart of everything I do is a deep desire for financial freedom, saying goodbye to debt, and being able to support my family in building a better future. I want to have a solid foundation for my future family. Have a business where I can be an active and present wife and mother. Making my schedule, traveling the world, and fully experiencing life with no fears or worries. Celestial Candle Works isn’t just about making money – it’s about creating a lasting legacy built on family values and community spirit.
