Founder's Story
We were both supposed to be doctors. We met in medical school. One of us stayed and earned her doctorate. The other left three years in and earned an MBA at the same university. Medicine drills one instinct into you above everything else: diagnose before you act. Find what is actually broken and fix the cause instead of the symptom.
Before this we both worked in operations inside other people's companies, and that is where we learned what actually breaks a small business. The founder who is the bottleneck for every decision, down to the smallest reorder. Work that outruns the systems meant to hold it. Customers who slip through gaps nobody owns. We cleaned that up long before we started building the fix.
We kept watching good companies fall apart over the same thing, usually because someone sold them a tactic when what they needed was infrastructure. So we built Backend Ops to install the thing underneath.
We operate on businesses, not bodies. Same instinct, different patient.
Business Description
Backend Ops builds the operating systems small businesses run on. We work with owner-operated companies that do great work but get buried in everything around it: missed calls, manual follow-up, scheduling that lives in one person’s head, and leads that go cold before anyone answers.
Our builds cover lead capture and intake, appointment booking and reminders, CRM setup and automation, customer follow-up sequences, AI agents that answer and qualify inquiries around the clock, and documented processes that let a team run the system without the owner in the middle. Every engagement starts with a diagnostic. We find where the business is leaking before we build anything, because most owners have been sold tactics when they needed infrastructure.
We run as a dual-operator practice. One founder owns the demand side, meaning how a business attracts customers and converts them. The other owns the supply side, meaning how it delivers and scales without breaking. Clients keep working systems they own outright rather than an open-ended retainer.
We serve service and trade businesses nationwide, including salons, detailers, contractors, home service companies, design studios, and professional practices.
