Founder's Story
After years of working with schools and nonprofits, I became convinced that strong communities don't begin with economic development—they begin with children.
I founded Alight Learning Community to help young people discover their gifts, solve real problems, and contribute to the places they call home. Through Christ-centered, hands-on learning, entrepreneurship, and community partnerships, we're preparing the next generation not just for careers, but to build stronger communities.
Business Description
Alight Learning Community is a Christ-centered hybrid microschool and learning community serving students ages 3–18 in Arlington, Texas. We combine rigorous academics with hands-on learning, entrepreneurship, outdoor exploration, and meaningful community experiences to help students develop both knowledge and character. Rather than relying on one-size-fits-all instruction, our students learn through inquiry, discussion, real-world projects, apprenticeships, and creative work that nurtures curiosity, resilience, and purpose.
Families can build a customized educational experience by choosing from academic seminars, maker courses, fine arts, STEM, leadership, and life skills. Small class sizes, mixed-age collaboration, and flexible scheduling allow students to learn at the pace and depth that’s right for them while remaining connected to a vibrant learning community.
Our mission extends beyond educating children. We believe strong communities are built by raising capable, compassionate, and entrepreneurial young people who are equipped to solve problems and serve others. Through student-run businesses, community partnerships, service projects, and authentic learning experiences, we help students discover their unique gifts and begin using them to make a meaningful impact today—not someday.
